Companions

Though Shana travels with a good number of companions, she does not really become very close to them all. With the exception of Dart, the following people are those she establishes some sort of bond with on her journey.

Shana and LAVITZ start off on a good note, as her extreme kindness makes him think highly of her. He gets injured when he and Dart come to rescue her, and injured a second time while they are on the run. Shana takes care of his injuries, as she has first aid experience. While Lavitz and Dart are talking about what the current state of affairs in the kingdom are, Shana warns him not to push himself too much because he is injured, to which he tells her she will make a good wife someday. Of course this makes her happy because she wants to be Dart’s wife, but it is something she wanted to hear. Ironically enough, when they reach Lavitz’s house, his mother mistakes Shana as his bride, which makes him all flustered. Lavitz continues on to say she belongs to Dart, but if you pick the choice to make Dart say “good luck” to him, he gets even more flustered and tells him not to be silly. Even if Lavitz does not love her, I am pretty sure he probably has a slight crush on her. Regardless, Lavitz knows Shana’s feelings for Dart, and therefore tries to move the brainless boy’s feelings along from the “baby sister” stage, which Shana would probably appreciate if she knew. When Lavitz dies, Shana is just as upset as everyone else, but she manages to give the group strength just like Lavitz himself would have if he were around. Shana definitely will not forget about him.

On the other hand, Shana and ROSE do not really start off on the right foot. Shana demands to know what she is to Dart, and despite what you make him say, she is still a bit uneasy after coming to the conclusion that she only saved him from a Dragon. Once Rose talks about a bit of her past and her friends, however, Shana feels guilty and apologizes to Rose because she was probably wrong about her. Rose shrugs it off since she claims she is used to being hated, and that is how their “bond” forms a platform to build off of. Though the two do not really get closer for a while, Rose’s sole existence in their party makes Shana feel very self-conscious and weak. She worries if she is any use to Dart and the others because she cannot transform into a Dragoon or fight like Rose can. Shana feels even worse when she starts being affected by the Dragon’s poison and Rose is standing perfectly fine like she was breathing clean air. She tries to insist that she is fine because Rose is fine too, but the poison gets so bad that she knows she cannot hold out without resting more. Having Rose around generally makes Shana more rash than she usually is, as she runs off by herself more without thinking about the danger that could be nearby (excluding when she is “called”, that does not have anything to do with Rose). Once Shana is able to transform into the White-Silver Dragoon, she begins to get a bit more confidence and looks up to Rose more and more. Rose comes to equally respect Shana, and becomes concerned about her when she loses her White-Silver Dragoon spirit. Even though Shana at first considered Rose a rival for Dart’s attention, as time goes on, Rose begins directing Dart towards Shana, and assures her that when they were separated, nothing happened between them and that he was worried about her the whole time. The group later finds out that Rose is really the Black Monster, and therefore the one who tried to kill Shana many years ago. Rose actually killed Shana’s twin sister thinking it was Shana, and believed she had completed her role of destroying the Moon Child. Even after Rose spent time with Shana, she still originally claims she will kill her before Zieg can use her to destroy the world. Rose then decides that she will follow Dart’s path of saving both Shana and the world, as Shana has become her friend as well.

Last but not least, HASCHEL has heard a lot about Shana from Dart in the past. Right off the bat, he realizes Shana’s intense feelings for Dart and jokes around about how since she only watched Dart, as opposed to watching him, she was blinded by love. Which, is pretty much how their relationship continues. Haschel does not take much seriously, especially towards the beginning of their journey. He does realize the dilemma between Dart’s refusal to accept his feelings and how much Shana loves him, and therefore tries his best to get the two moving in the right direction. For starters, he brings up that Dart only sees Shana as his “baby sister” right in front of her, which not only causes Dart to go silent, but makes Shana start thinking. But then he jokes around about how since Dart has not made up his mind about his feelings for Shana; he will take her around town to have fun instead of Dart. Despite his constant jokes, Shana grows to trust him with her feelings. While they are in Hellena Prison trying to rescue King Albert, Shana tells him that she envies the relationship between Dart and Lavitz because they understand each other without saying a word. He asks Shana about her and Dart, and she wonders out loud if they could ever be like that because he only sees her as a baby sister. When Dart comes back and asks if Shana is okay, their conversation is ended, but she obviously trusted him enough to tell him how she was feeling, especially in a time of “crisis” since they were there to rescue Albert. As time goes on, Haschel more or less develops to be a father-like figure around Shana, and he becomes another person she will not forget.
