Femme Fatale

TALES OF ETERNIA: BURUQANO MARONNE
STATUS: 98% Complete (Static)
Though Maronne is only in Tales of Eternia the Animation, she is one of my favorite Tales of female characters. She's a bit cold on the outside, but she has good intentions deep down. Chances are if she appears like she's saying "no" for no reason, she is doing something that is kind and considerate for someone else and does not want to admit it. Maronne is a strong woman who will not let anyone step all over her or those in need, which I really admire. Despite her tragic past, she is able to move forward and challenge the authority that caused her to lose everything. I had planned on making this on the smaller side, but I ended up writing a bit more than I thought I would be able to. It's not large by any means, but I hope it will suffice since there are not many information sources for her. Femme Fatale probably will not be updated content wise again since it is pretty much complete, but I theoretically have a bunch of screenshots left to add, so we'll see what happens. I still treasure Maronne's character, and would have loved to make the tribute bigger if she had a larger role.

Polaris

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: KRATOS AURION
STATUS: 70% Complete (MAJOR!REVAMP)
I don't even know what to say, much less begin with. I had always been attracted to Kratos' character, long before I even had Tales of Symphonia. I saw his fanlisting by chance, and wondered what he was from. When I found out it was a Gamecube game, I gave up since I did not have one. Once my friend Kara started to get into the Tales of series, I was reintroduced to Kratos. Except that time, I actually had a Gamecube. So, I set off to buy Tales of Symphonia and boy was I right. No one had surpassed my favorite male character at that time, but Kratos just swept by and left that character in the dust. There is not one thing I can think of that I dislike about Kratos. That's not to say I think he's "perfect", because he definitely has his flaws, but I love his character for those flaws as well. Kratos lost his way in the world after a tragic mistake in his past, but he begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel once he is introduced to Lloyd. He has made me laugh, cry and be at the edge of my seat, and I definitely feel more emotionally attached to him than any other character I have come across. To this day, Kratos is in the "favorite male character ever" spot, and I highly, highly doubt he will be moved from it any time soon. Even if I'm not currently focusing on Tales of Symphonia, all it takes is for me to look at some pictures or watch a video clip and my obsession with him starts up once again. I really, really like his character a lot.

Heartplace

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: LLOYD IRVING & COLETTE BRUNEL
STATUS: 95% Complete (Active)
Lloyd and Colette were not my original Tales of Symphonia OTP. I leaned more heavily towards Lloyd and Sheena, though I did think his relationship with Colette was very cute. During my second play through, I found myself becoming more and more pulled towards Lloyd and Colette and watching the OVA pretty much sealed the deal. The feelings between Lloyd and Colette are just so pure and strong, that it is hard NOT to like. They obviously both care for one another a tremendous amount and like each other for who they are, flaws and all. Colette thinks Lloyd is absolutely wonderful, as she gets excited and praises him when he does things correctly, and it doesn't matter what happens to him, Colette will always be Colette. They gather their strength from each other, as a lot of their motivation to fight comes from their desire to protect the well being and happiness of one another. I really do not like very many video game relationships, but they have somehow managed to become one of the few that I like enough to make a tribute to. I was almost going to trash this project due to lack of time, but I am glad that I didn't since I enjoyed writing about them. Heartplace, like most of my relationship tributes, is on the smaller side, but I hope that it may be useful and enjoyable to some.

Venus Seal

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: SHEENA FUJIBAYASHI
STATUS: 99% Complete (Static)
Sheena is yet another character from Tales of Symphonia I was interested in before I bought the game. She looked really awesome to me, and the fact that she was a ninja AND a summoner was something I was looking forward to doing in battle. Her spunky and determined personality caught my attention during my first play through, but I really like Sheena for the tremendous amount of character growth she undergoes after meeting Lloyd. Due to a mistake in her past that killed many people, Sheena lacks a lot of self-confidence, especially when it comes to making pacts with Summon Spirits. Slowly but surely she begins to gain more confidence in herself, until eventually she is able to become strong and independent enough to take on the role of saving both worlds from destruction. Sheena is also very fun to be in battle, as she moves very quickly and can attack numerous times before an enemy even has a chance to fight back. I had a good time using elemental cards to my advantage and getting excited to summon people while in over limit. Though I do not really plan on updating Venus Seal much anymore, Sheena is still one of my top favorite female video game characters.

Sharp Shooter

TALES OF THE ABYSS: LEGRETTA THE QUICK
STATUS: 100% Complete (Static)
Legretta was the main reason that I started looking into Tales of the Abyss. I was very disappointed to find that she was not a playable character, but rather one of the antagonists. Either way, I was still very interested in her role, and was pleased to find that I did like her as much as I thought when I got the game. She is strong, intelligent, independent and definitely a good soldier. Despite her soldier rank, she has proven to be caring and extremely loyal to the two people she cares about, which made me like her even more. Not to mention she just looks plain awesome and has some pretty cool fonic guns to top it off. Though she did not end up being my favorite character from the game, she came to a close second despite being a minor character. I made Sharp Shooter in pretty much two days, so it is not large by any means, but I still put quite a bit of effort and consideration into it. Chances are this will not be updated much more either until the Tales of the Abyss anime is released.

Selenia

TALES OF THE ABYSS: LUKE FON FABRE & TEAR GRANTS
STATUS: 100% Complete (Static)
Before playing Tales of the Abyss, I did not have a video game OTP at all. There were a lot of nice relationships, but none of them really struck me as "oh my god, I LOVE THEM!" That was until I was introduced to Luke and Tear. As soon as they first interacted, I found myself not being able to wait patiently for the next scene between them. Their relationship grows tremendously from Luke finding Tear bossy and cold and Tear thinking of him only as a selfish brat to an unbreakable bond. Luke comes to appreciate everything that she does for him, and in turn Tear becomes very fond him and wants to be near him at all times. She has always been there for Luke, never once breaking her promise to look out for him even during tough times when the others gave up on him. When they all leave, she takes care of him in her room until he regains consciousness. If it were not for Tear, I do not think that Luke would have made a successful transformation that everyone comes to respect and like. I really enjoyed watching their relationship unfold little by little and it has made me laugh and cry. The two make a great team and really do care about each other by the end. Selenia will remain static until the release of the Tales of the Abyss anime, and then will probably get a new setup.

Hymnaria

TALES OF THE ABYSS: TEAR GRANTS
STATUS: 97% Complete (Active)
Honestly, I was not quite sure about Tear when I first saw her even though she looked like someone I would probably like. I can't even remember why I had my doubts, but I was set on Legretta being my favorite character from Tales of the Abyss. Well, that didn't turn out as planned, as Tear quickly became my favorite female video game character ever. Usually I would never volunteer to be the healer in a multiplayer game, as I like to get up in the action with a sword or something to that effect. Being a soldier as well, Tear steps outside the typical healer class boundaries. Not only can she stand on her own in face to face combat, but she also has powerful magic artes alongside Yulia's hymns. I thoroughly enjoyed being Tear in battle, and generally I am always her when playing the game with other people. She is another strong female character who will not let people take advantage of any of her weaknesses. Tear tries to carry the world on her shoulders, but learns to accept the help of her comrades when things get out of her hands. Tear wants to do her best in order to help people, but unfortunately must kill as she is a soldier. I really think Tear is awesome in every regard, and have yet to find something that I dislike about her. Naturally, I had to make some sort of tribute to her, and Hymnaria is what resulted. So far she does not have any other dedications, so I hope that fans will be able to find what they are looking for here.
