ALTERNA     .      the ultimate betrayal of trust

Introduction

She released her arrow, and it flew straight into the heart of the hanyou who was attempting to steal the Shikon no Tama. Her name softly left his lips, and slowly his sight of the terribly wounded shrine maiden in front of him slipped away. In pain, she made her way to the jewel, and fell to her knees to pick it up. Everything...for the sake of the jewel... Her younger sister and townspeople plead to take care of her, but she refuses, knowing that she is about to die. Her final wish is that the jewel is to be burned with her body, so it cannot fall into the wrong hands again. Her mistake will not be repeated in history. She then fell to the ground and followed her lover in death, taking the Shikon no Tama with her.

Welcome visitor # to Alterna, a tribute to the tragic shrine maiden Kikyou from Rumiko Takahashi's popular animanga series InuYasha. Samantha is the owner of this shrine, and is very passionate about Kikyou's character and role in the series. There have been a large amount of shrines to her character since Alterna opened back in 2003, but as one of the only remaining, I hope to be able to give you all that you are looking for or care to read. Please be forewarned that this shrine is full of unmarked spoilers! If you would rather not be spoiled, please visit my affiliates or leave through the linkage page. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Version thirteen of Alterna features two different anime scans of Kikyou, and is best viewed in 1024x768 or higher resolutions. It was aligned in Safari, and therefore looks best in either Safari or Firefox. All aspects of the layout were done by me in the Mac version of Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Feel free to use the words UNIVERSE, INFORMATION, GALLERY, MULTIMEDIA, SITE&EXITS and CLEAR to the left in order to navigate around the shrine. Past layouts can be viewed at Another Side.
