About

Serenity has quite a bit of history behind it, as it was created on February 14, 2004. The shrine was originally named "Purity". Cliche, I know. But hey, I was in like...eigth grade. Anyway, it was hosted on my DomainDLX account back then until it was moved to my first domain, angelic-arrow.net. I eventually got approved for the fanlisting in August of that same year, and decided to change the shrine a bit. I renamed it to "Amrita" about a year after that and it was moved to my next domain, star-shower.net. Time went by and I got fire-dancer.net after the previous one was hacked and it still remained pretty much the same. After October of 2006, I got fed up with people talking behind my back and "revamped" the whole thing, where it pretty much sat static for a little over a year after the revamp. I still was getting the bashing, so I finally put my foot down once and for all and completely revamped and expanded the whole tribute. I renamed it to its current title, "Serenity" and it is currently hosted on my domain irisblade.org.

Why did I choose the name "Serenity"? Well:
se•ren•i•ty (n.) - the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled
Even though it is not an "oh my god, perfect match!" title for Kairi, I thought the word flowed well and sounded nice. Kairi is generally very calm and peaceful, and even though separated from Sora, she still seems untroubled knowing that she will meet up with him some day in the future. She has been put through a lot, and to be able to stay calm is an admirable trait. I spent literally three hours (much of which I hit my head against a desk) thinking of a new title after I got fed up with people mispelling the previous title, and I decided to go with it.

Back before I decided to make a shrine to Kairi, I was contemplating what videogame shrine I was going to create next. I wanted to do a shrine to Riku, but there were already a million out anyway, so I scratched that idea. The final decision came between Link from Zelda and Kairi, and I decided to go with Kairi. Even though I had a general Kingdom Hearts site at the time, she was my favorite character (tied with Riku) and she did not have many shrines at all. Yes, Kairi was my favorite before Kingdom Hearts II came out. She has always been a favorite videogame female character of mine, and I have never considered her weak or annoying, or whatever else she used to get bashed for before she "became awesome". I thought she was amusing and rather strong for a fourteen-year-old girl put through all the events she had to go through. Kairi is also very strong-willed and I admire that about her. The men in Kingdom Hearts get a ton of fandom (especially Riku), and I think she deserves just as much.
