Appearance

I really liked Kairi’s hairstyle in Kingdom Hearts. She has reddish-brown hair that hangs in her face. It comes down in front of her ears a little past her chin and then gets a bit shorter as it moves more towards the back of her head. I believe that her hair makes her stand out from other characters because there are not many who have a similar look. Shorter hair tends to make people look more outgoing and in her case, a bit younger. They do live on a set of islands though, so I can imagine that long hair would not be fit for the climate. She has bright blue eyes (though this image makes them look kind of purple) and a simple complexion, as she does not wear makeup. Kairi wears a thick black choker around her neck.

Kairi also sports a medium sized necklace around her neck that has a small off-white stone at the end. She seems to like multiple layers of clothing, as she has a black tank top outlined in white underneath her white one that is outlined in purple. Tank tops are also appropriate for the climate of a group of islands, and are more ‘beachwear’ than what Sora and Riku wear. Both appear to be rather small on her because a little part of her stomach shows when standing, probably more if she shifted or was sitting down. Kairi also has a purple band on the upper part of her left arm around her chest area.

As if that was not enough, Kairi has even more beachwear by wearing a light purple “skort”. In other words, it is just a skirt over really short shorts. The skirt has rounded points at the end and has small designs on each edge. The entire thing is held up by a darker purple belt, which is worn slightly above her waist. Kairi also wears a large yellow sweatband on her left wrist and a smaller yellow and black one on her right. The girl is ready for any day at the beach.

Lastly, Kairi finishes her attire with large white clogs. They have a light blue and purple border at the edges and seem to be slightly elevated, giving her more height. They have no zipper, but appear to have an elastic cord at the top, possibly to tighten that area. Overall, Kairi definitely looks like she belongs on a set of islands with warm and tropical climate and a normal, casual day at the beach. I think it is interesting that she actually has “normal” clothing as opposed to Riku and Sora who have outfits that look more videogame-ish. I am not sure if that was intentional to make her seem more average than the two boys, or they just did not bother to give her an outfit like the two of them since she does not fight at all in the first game. She dresses nothing like any of the other Princess’ of Heart, however, which makes her stand out in her own way. Princess of the beach maybe? Just kidding. Kairi’s style in this game would probably classify more as “girlish” as opposed to her outfit in Kingdom Hearts II.
