Kagura may appear to be an average, cute schoolgirl, but do not let her appearance fool you. She is the head of the Tsuchimiya family and has the power of the spirit beast Byakuei at her command. Her family is a lineage of darkness, whose members sacrifice their souls for the power of the spiritual beast. They seal Byakuei, a spirit beast called an inugami, into their bodies, making their souls one. Byakuei had been passed down through her ancestors, and both her mother and father were in control of it before they were ultimately killed. Kagura is cursed with the destiny of being a human sacrifice. Kagura and Byakuei’s souls are connected by chains, so whenever it is injured, she is in a similar fashion. Kagura has to protect the city forever no matter what happens.

Despite the weight she carries, Kagura is a rather cheerful and optimistic girl. She tries to take her job seriously and make the most out of it. Unlike Kensuke, Kagura has accepted her ability to see ghosts and works with it rather than trying to avoid it. She is a strong girl who will do anything to protect those she cares about as well as innocent people who she believes should not be involved with her situation. Deep inside she is depressed and tries to not form connections with other people. When Kensuke is around, she feels more at ease and is able to smile. Kagura also likes to eat a lot, as it gets her into a fighting mood.
